How does an oil furnace work?

Oil stoves are single-room fireplaces with a built-in tank. This oil tank is filled with heating oil using a special oil can. The heating oil runs to the burner pot and drips into it. There this heating oil is ignited electrically or with solid or liquid oil stove lighters. During the ignition and heating phase, additional combustion air is supplied to the ignited heating oil, so that this process is accelerated. This procedure is known as a “combustion jump start.” The heat generated is released into the room in the form of convection. This has the advantage that cold rooms are warmed up quickly. With a complete heating system this would take a little longer.

I don't want to pour oil on it. What can I do?

These oil ovens can be converted to connect to the central oil supply. This means that you no longer have to pour it manually. The refilling takes place automatically from the oil tank in the basement.

How much heating oil does an oil stove use per day?

This depends on many factors. The desired room temperature, the size of the room, the operating time of the oil stove or the set power. Assuming the smallest oil flow at the oil regulator, an oil oven consumes approx. 4 liters per day if it runs for 24 hours. If it is in operation for 8 hours, consumption drops to approx. 1.5 liters on the lowest setting.

How do I properly clean an oil furnace?

Of course, it is best to let the oil stove burn as optimally as possible. The use of burner rings and glow coils ensure efficient combustion. Regularly throw a cube of soot remover into the burning heating oil and heat thoroughly. Your oil furnace will be freed of soot and other deposits. Heavy deposits must be removed by a specialist occasionally or at the latest during the annual inspection. You can get spare parts such as oil furnace seals or oil furnace filters here in the shop. If too much oil has run into the burner pot, set the power regulator to 0. Use kitchen towels to absorb the excess oil and then ignite again.
