The pipe insulation shell is used for thermal insulation of flue gas pipes with a maximum operating temperature of 400 °C. The laminate itself must not exceed a maximum temperature of 80 °C.

The pipe insulation shell is used for the insulation of stove pipes. It is made of concentrically wound rock wool (mineral wool) and encased in a tear-resistant, mesh-reinforced aluminium foil. For easier installation or subsequent fitting, the pipe insulation has been slit lengthwise on one side, the inner lining has been sawn through, and an adhesive closure (ideally facing downward) has been provided.

Ideally, the pipe insulation should be slipped over unpainted stove pipes.
