For many older oil stoves, original spare parts are no longer available. When replacing the burner rings, it is important that the outer diameter fits into the burner pot of your oil heating appliance. 

The structure of the rings, whether holes are present or not, has hardly any effect on combustion.

Please check the dimensions of your old burner ring. It is possible that your burner ring has warped due to the heat, or more precisely, has expanded. This can amount to several millimeters.
