Chimney closure set up to D=250mm

If a stove is relocated, the existing chimney opening (approx. 250 mm) must be closed cleanly and properly. Proper execution means that the closure must be carried out in such a way that no draught resistance and no possibility for fly ash deposits arise on the inside. The closure must therefore be very smooth on the inside and flush with the rest of the chimney.

That's not so easy! But how should you proceed?

Chimney connections can be cleanly closed using the chimney closure set. The cardboard tube, together with the rubber rings and the fixing rods, is secured inside the chimney.

Afterwards, the repair mortar can be carefully layered onto the cardboard. Make sure there is a solid bond to the sides of the opening. If your opening is larger than the cardboard tube used here (310 × 310 mm), choose the larger closure set with 390 × 390 mm.

Take a look at the sequence of images for clarification:

1. A chimney opening that needs to be closed. Inside is the clay liner, which must be closed smoothly and flush.
   
2. First, the cardboard tube is inserted into the round clay liner. The cardboard tube must, of course, be larger than the opening so that no gap remains. You can choose from 3 different sizes.
3. Using the attached rubber rings, the cardboard tube is brought into the correct position.
4. With the help of the long fixing rods, the cardboard tube can be held in the desired position.
   
5. Now the repair mortar is carefully applied, layer by layer.

The edges must be worked on carefully so that everything is properly sealed and holds together. After the drying time, the fixing rods are removed and the rubber is cut through.

Afterwards, a layer of insulation and a suitable panel, for example made of firebrick, are fitted above it for the final closure.

The chimney can then be plastered or painted as usual.
