Chimney closure set up to D=200mm

When a stove is relocated, the existing chimney opening (approx. 200 mm) must be sealed cleanly and properly. Proper sealing means that it must be carried out in such a way that no draught resistance and no possibility of fly ash deposits occur on the inside. The seal must therefore be very smooth and flush with the rest of the chimney on the inside.

That's not so easy after all! But how should you proceed?

Chimney connections can be neatly sealed using the chimney closure set. The cardboard tube is fixed inside the chimney with the rubber rings and fixing rods. Afterwards, the repair mortar can be carefully layered onto the cardboard. Make sure there is a proper bond to the edges of the hole. If your hole is larger than the 200 × 200 mm cardboard used here, choose one of the other closure sets with 310 × 310 mm or 390 × 390 mm.

1. A chimney opening that needs to be closed. Inside, the clay pipe that must be sealed smoothly and flush.
   
2. First, the cardboard tube is guided into the round clay pipe. The cardboard tube must, of course, be larger than the hole so that no gap remains. You can choose from 3 different sizes.
   
3. The attached rubber rings are used to bring the cardboard tube into the correct position.
   
4. The long fixing rods can be used to hold the cardboard tube in the desired position.
   
5. Now begin carefully layering the repair mortar step by step.
