Damper flaps are used to regulate the chimney draft. If no damper flap is installed in the stove pipe itself, this damper flap with a continuous shaft is used for subsequent installation.
The damper flap is a metal plate that can be installed in the stove pipe. It has a continuous shaft with a 10mm steel handle. After installation, this handle is located outside the stove pipe. This allows the damper flap to be turned open and closed.
The regulation of the chimney draft should only be carried out once regulation via the primary and secondary air slides brings no improvement.
A strong draft ensures good ignition of the fire, but the heat generated is also quickly carried away. The correct setting of the damper flap reduces this considerably.
If the stove or fireplace is not used for a long time, the damper flap should also be closed. However, care must be taken to open it again the next time the fire is lit. If this is not done, a large cloud of smoke can be expected at the installation site. The exhaust gases will then be unable to escape, as the chimney draft is too weak.
