Throttle valves are used to regulate chimney draft. If no throttle valve is installed in the stovepipe itself, this throttle valve with a continuous shaft can be retrofitted.
The throttle valve is a metal plate that can be installed in the stovepipe. It has a continuous shaft with a 10mm steel handle. This handle is located outside the stovepipe after installation. This allows the throttle valve to be opened and closed.
The chimney draught should only be regulated if the regulation via primary and secondary air dampers does not bring any improvement.
While a high draft ensures a good fire start, the heat generated is also quickly dissipated. Properly adjusting the throttle valve significantly reduces this.
If the stove or fireplace isn't used for a long time, the damper should also be closed. However, you should make sure to open it again the next time you light the stove. If this isn't done, you'll experience a large cloud of smoke at the installation site. The exhaust gases can't escape, and the chimney draft is too low.
