This gray fire-resistant sealing cord (glass knit cord based on E-glass fiber) is wrapped with metal wire. The wire provides greater stability and better hold.

Applications range from the door on fireplace or tiled stove inserts to sealing lids on coal stoves.

Please ensure that the fire-resistant sealing cord always remains elastic. Over time, the fire-resistant stove seal can harden. The fireplace door then no longer closes flush, and your stove draws in incorrect air. This leads to higher combustion temperatures, and the interior lining wears out much more quickly. In the worst case, the body itself can warp. Therefore, replace the stove sealing cord in good time.

There can be various reasons for such hardening. Overheating with larger fill quantities than specified in the respective operating instructions, as well as the use of unsuitable and aggressive cleaning agents, can significantly shorten the service life. Protect the sealing cords from moisture and cleaning agents during cleaning. Do not brush off or clean mechanically in any other way. Do not let the ash or embers bed rise so high that the sealing cords are exposed to direct flame.

For gluing the new fire-resistant sealing cord onto the stove body, our matching sealing cord adhesive is particularly suitable. Clean the surface beforehand of any old sealing cord residue and adhesive. This prevents the new stove seal from being applied too thickly and the door from becoming difficult to close. Cut the stove seal to size and press it into the corresponding groove that has been coated with adhesive. Allow it to dry for a few hours, and you can once again heat safely and without worry.

Please note: The sealing cords wrapped with wire are somewhat more stable in themselves and can therefore be compressed less than a comparable seal without brass wire.
