Throttle valves are used to regulate the chimney draught. If no throttle valve is installed in the stove pipe itself, this throttle valve without a continuous shaft is used for subsequent installation.

The throttle valve is a metal plate that can be installed in the stove pipe. It has a continuous shaft with a 10 mm steel handle. After installation, this handle is located outside the stove pipe. This allows the throttle valve to be turned open and closed.

The chimney draught should only be regulated once adjusting the primary and secondary air slides no longer brings any improvement.

A strong draught does ensure that the fire ignites well, but the heat generated is also quickly carried away. Correctly adjusting the throttle valve significantly reduces this effect.

If the stove or fireplace is not used for a long time, the throttle valve should also be closed. However, care must be taken to open it again the next time the fire is lit. If this is not done, a large cloud of smoke will fill the installation area. The flue gases will then be unable to escape, as the chimney draught will be too low.
